Bush Regulators Anesthetized . . . or Alert?

The Bush Administration from day one, seven years in the making now, set out to transfer--some would call it stealing us blind--the wealth in income from middle class families to enrich the wealthy (primarily Republican) households and multinational corporations. They kicked this plan off with the Bush tax cuts tilted heavily to the rich, followed shortly on its heels by the ENRON debacle. Bush personal friend and Republican supporter Ken Lay cheated millions of American retirees out of their nest egg incomes by illegally manipulating the energy markets. Let us recall DICK Cheeney's secret energy meetings of 2002, shortly before the Bushies and thier NEOCON brainerds waltzed us into the quicksands of Iraq.

Recall the Bush Blue Skies Initiative that let industrial polluters of the hook, the Bush Healthy Forests Initiative and those exponential lumber prices that followed. Deregulation each at its best. Let us not forget 911, Abu Grab, Torture, Katrina, a politicized Justice Department, Karl Rove and Bush himself outing a CIA agent, and the sub-prime loan debacle that's very much still in the making (we hope not of a global depression), the latter meltdown reminiscent of the Savings and Loan debacle brought us by Bush 1. Why then be surprised at their manipulation of the oil futures market? These guys are life long oil industry yes crooks, ergo executives, DICK Cheeney and his VP George W. Bush.

At last Senator Maria Cantwell has stepped forward trying to get to the bottom of the oil price increases.

And reading the article this morning in The Columbian, there's one piece of evidence that Robert McCullough apparently overlooked: The hundreds of millions of dollars in federal income tax rebates granted middle income families this spring, during the months and weeks just prior to June and July gas price increases of 2008. So what you say? Bush finally did something for the middle class? Think again.

What better way to transfer middle class wealth back into the deep pockets of his oil industry constituents. Cynical? After what we've been through the last seven years?

All I can say is, hope is on the way - Vote Democrat in 2008!
