Get Informed and Take a Stand

VOTE DEMOCRAT

As you will no doubt notice, this was written some time ago, in fact, about three years ago leading up into the 2004 presidential election. Reviewing these paragraphs--and I've just amended only the word "three" to "six" in the following sentence--sadly it appears that most of what I had written back then still applies! All the more reason to vote Democrat in November 2006.

For the Last "seven" and a half years, George W. Bush and his administration have continued to misrepresent their motives and policies to the American people. Double Speak Central should be their Logo. And John McCain is no different! While they parade as moderates in the public eye, upon scrutiny their actions have revealed, time and again, an extreme right-wing ideological agenda. They have become experts at small wording changes that alter regulations to make sweeping changes in environmental and pollution laws, veterans health benefits, trade policy and labor issues. They are driving our economy aground with tax cuts to the wealthiest households, and out-of-control-spending in Iraq of American tax payers' dollars and debt, that will leave our children and thier children to shoulder an obscene legacy of bloated federal deficit MEGA-spending.

It's an outrage that the Bush Labor Department even tried out to eliminate time-and-a-half for over time pay for most middle income American workers! Simply Unbelievable!!!! But you better had believe it for it's true as true can be.

Every action they have taken has been calculated to support mega-corporate business interests at the expense the middle class, the poor, the environment, health care, labor, small business, education, and last but not least world peace. Bush lied about WMD's in Iraq to justify attacking that country based solely on his administration's dangerous and fanatical neoconservative world view. Do we need any more reasons to send this drug company cowboy back to Texas? Together let's defeat his out-of-touch administration and elect a Democrat president again come November 2004.

The Right Wing Media Onslaught

Well funded conservative AM talk radio and cable channel outlets like Fox News distort reality to the extreme right, while many networks present the public with an overall conservative contextual bias. (The Republican myth of a liberal media, having now risen to the status of urban legend, is totally unsupported by fact. The press corps have been playing softball with President Bush since he was appointed to the office, and because of the war on terror, the mainstream media in general has not wanted to be seen as too critical of the administration. All of this does not make it any easier on the public to understand what's really going on. However, getting informed and taking nothing for granted is each person's responsibility in this country. It will make a huge difference if we all could see through the spin--presented us by the current administration's spin doctors--and find the truth about their extreme right-wing agenda.

Democratic Party leaders and candidates are finally coming to terms with the very well funded, well organized right-wing Republican campaign of lies about Democrats; for well over two decades now, and we have just been taking it. Well, the time has come to take a stand instead. The country can no longer afford to let these self proclaimed "conservative" ideologues--who parade themselves as moderates--continue to run rip-shod over the America we love. The cost is too great, there is way too much at stake; for it may be literally now or never.

Innovative Democracy

We live in a social democracy in America today. Our form of government has evolved from a vibrant blend of capitalism, social responsibility and environmental awareness. We have a proud history of commitment to the working people who have made this country, to providing a safety net for the aged, underclass and disenfranchised, while insuring equal rights to all people. In no small part, we owe our economic successes to the innovative entrepreneurial spirit found in small business enterprise. Democrats like most Americans are committed to clean air and water, to safety in the work place, to energy independence and innovation, to health care for all, taking care of retirees who have worked their entire lives to make this country great, and to promoting a healthy and peaceful world in which to coexist with the other peoples of the world.

The Democratic Party has a tradition of supporting a strong military defense, yet unlike the current administration, the Democrats have traditionally taken a multilateral stance to international policy. Democrats recognize the value of a strong United Nations in promoting world peace, and working with our our allies, as together we strive for international harmony.

While Bush would haphazardly appropriate us fast-forward into WW3, we believe America is in dire need of a holistic approach to international diplomacy, and a sincere commitment to world peace and national security. But this will never be accomplished by asserting a super power status over the world community; an under our thumb policy of world domination, and by hypocritically waging--in Orwellian double-speak--an everlasting culture of war in the name of peace. (Talk about white man speak with forked tongue! Let's Get real!)

Only with a kind of holistic policy of global cooperation--set in motion by our own example in the world--will our long range security interests be strengthened and well served. America must begin to treat her sister nations as she would have them treat her own. We must give our best for world wide peace and stability--but not by domination, not by saying "do as we say, not as we do," not by continuing to spend blindly on wars (especially those based upon false pretense), and not at the expense of all other domestic and economic responsibilities. Many Americans believe in a strong military deterrent, but do not believe in over building our military might to an extreme, as did the USSR in Afghanistan in the 1980's, which contributed to that county's eventual collapse. To be certain, America does not have a bottomless pit from which to draw funds to wage these foreign wars, as the current administration of "neoconservatives" would have us believe.

A New Spirit of Unity

Many Democrats and independent voters, in recent years, have became disillusioned by the seeming inability of Democratic party leaders to stand up to the right-wing ideologues; to confront those who have taken control of the White House, and since November 2002 both houses of Congress. But every day brings to the party a new spirit of defiance and camaraderie in light of this terrible administration, that as we have seen time and again, is beholding primarily to special mega-corporate and multinational business interests, and those wealthy Republican campaign donors who sit on their boards of directors.

As a result, a new spirit of progressive ideas is emerging and being rekindled within the party. With Nancy Pelosi as House Minority Leader, and most other Democrats, many of whom now see through the facade that the Bush administration has been perpetrating on the American public, those who now regard it for what it truly is: a right wing ideological coup set on bankrupting the federal government for the special mega-corporate business interests.

During the Clinton/Gore years, Democrats demonstrated abilities to promote economic prosperity by working together with Republicans, as opposed to being "trickled down" upon by the current administration in Washington DC. Well folks, the time has come to stand up and fight back! In 2004, the Democrats' goal is to stop this right-wing onslaught against our country, by taking back the White House and US Congress. A commitment to this end is evident on many levels, and at every campaign discussion to date in the many Democratic candidates' presidential forums.

The majority of voters in this country come from white collar, blue collar, and cotton tee-shirt sporting middle income families. And while the interests of the (many struggling) middle class, the underclass, and the working poor are most represented by the Democrats, the Bush Administration and the Republican party court the rich and powerful for hundreds of millions in campaign contributions. They would dupe the American people into believing that they represent their interests, when their actions clearly show the opposite is true. The campaign contributions that they receive will be used to wage an upcoming TV blitzkrieg of propaganda via the public airwaves. Bush is expected to raise $250 million, the most ever raised by any candidate.

However, Bush's wealthy constituents alone cannot elect him president of the United States. For it will be average American voters who will put the next presidential candidate in office. Regardless of party affiliation, whether independent party members, opposition groups, including Naderites and those in the innovative Green Party, liberal through moderate and conservative Democrats, as well as moderate Republicans; all those who have witnessed our liberties eroded by this reactionary White House and Justice Department, those of us who do not believe in preemptive war policy and lies to support it, who are fed up with the failed Reagan era trickle-down voodoo economic theories that don't even begin to solve the fiscal woes--that by the way this administration has single handedely created in only three and a half years--we all must come together and vote the Democratic ticket come November 2006.

Public Opinion

Why Bush is rated even at 38% approval rating in public opinion poles remains a bit of a mystery to many. True, in times of war Americans tend to view supporting the President as to waving the Flag for returning troops; our sons and daughters, grandsons and granddaughters. So it's understandable in this one respect if non-the-less perplexing, given the fact that Bush himself and his cadre of neo-conservative ideologues led (and lied) us into this war in the first place. They lied to get the American public to buy into their war scheme, they lied about the costs of this war, they lied to Congress by telling them we would not go it alone, they lied by telling us it was over when it is obviously not even close to being over, and the lied about what it's going to take to get us out. Popularity is a fleeting thing.

The Economy in a Shambles

The economy is in a shambles. Our rights and civil liberties are eroded daily by the puritanical (statue covering) John Ashcroft and his Justice Department. This administration thumbs their noses at global warming and the environment; like who needs clean air and water? They proclaim "big government" is bad, yet they have manufactured the largest deficit spending in the history of our nation, while on the one hand waging a preemtive war, but cutting health benefits for veterans with the other. They scoff at a United Nations working together multilaterally toward world peace, while they label Korea and Iran as part of an "axis of evil", yet fail even to define for them the term, thus alienating their leaders, who then become even more difficult with which to deal.

The right wing of the Republican Party is all set now to bankrupt Social Security along with our system of Public Education, so as to privatize them and skim profits into the pockets of their wealthy constituents. They could care less that millions of Americans are without health care or health insurance in this country, while health care costs have escalated to 14% of our annual GNP. George W. Bush and his hand picked leaders are inept, irresponsible and set on destroying the federal government, and to make it seem as if all were some kind of self-fulfilling Limbaugh talk-radio prophesy from on high. I say Bull Pucky.

Bush Beholding to Special Interests

Nearly every decision they have made favors mega-multi-national corporations; mega-pharmceuticals, mega-insurance, mega-banking and mega-offshore accounts, mega-Wall Street fat cats, mega-defense (offense) contractors, mega-oil, mega-industrial, mega-communications, mega-every-kind-o-busineess interests except "small business and average American workers," those who have truly made this country what it is today. Small business people are led to believe that mega-business and their own interests are one and the same, when there could be nothing further from the truth. And speaking of truth, if Bill Clinton had lied to Congress like George W. Bush has regarding nonexistent Iraqi WMD's, the Republican pit bulls out for blood would have strung him up. But there is no time to waste on impeachment proceedings for this president. We simply must rid him of office come election day 2004.

Democrats Stand Up For We The People

So that's why I created this web site; that in my own small way, I could change a few minds, sway more than a few votes in support of average American workers and their families, and all those who still believe in the American Dream, but not in the outmoded ways of unchecked consumption, out of control spending and ego-driven-world domination. By defending humanity here at home with our ideas, our work, our innovation and with our intellects, with our freedom, our compassion and our commitment to a better future, we must begin to wage peace in the world again, not war at every turn, as this administration has demonstrated that it is all about. (As if full-scale military action were the only viable options to secure a more peaceful world.) What insanity they would have us buy into. Their outdated fanatical cold-war-era foreign policy has created a sea of endless enemies. We can and must do much better, beginning right here in our own back yards. It's past time for a change in this country, and together we can accomplish extraordinary goals. - Mike George
